Beautiful Outdoor Wedding

Summer is here and everyone that has booked an outdoor wedding is praying for great weather.  This day was one of those perfect days!  The West Branch area location was beautiful, the weather was fantastic and the park was beautiful.

Wedding photography taken outside can create beautiful pictures, but it isn’t always the easy.  Unfortunately, light, clouds, wind, and even the elements are never the same from moment to moment.  Having wedding portraits taken outdoors means you and the wedding photographer will be dealing with nature. Swarms of little flies or dust make small little marks in the pictures. If it is extremely windy, very hot, or cold, it will show up in the faces of the subjects as well. Things such as snow and rain show up as marks in the photographs. If you are having the pictures taken inside of a large gazebo or covered structure, the snow or rain in the background can actually make a nice background for your portraits. However, it is always a good idea to have an alternative plan in place in order to prepare for the unexpected.  Planning, careful selection of the location, and even the time the pictures are taken will have a huge impact on the final story wedding photographers capture.

Senior Picture Time

Spring is in the air, winter jackets are put away and kids everywhere are looking forward to the approacing end of the school year.  But for all you high school juniors out there – it’s time to get your senior pictures done.  With Michigan having a short summer you won’t want to delay if you plan on doing something outdoors. 

Here’s a tip for better senior pictures:
Like shoes, hands can show up in some of your favorite poses, so be sure to take the time to make them presentable – guys should trim their nails, and girls might need to touch up their manicure.  We photographers have a lot to think about when we are taking the pictures and we often miss the small stuff . . . untill we edit the images.  Above is a great example.  This picture was taken early in the portrait session and we didn’t notice the band-aid on the finger until a few images were shot.

Bay City Wedding

This picture was taken after the wedding ceremony at a wedding in Bay City summer 2009.  I can’t remember if I was working for Image Artz or Mid-Michigan Wedding Photographers for this wedding.  I love this image because I feel that it brings out the personalities of the couple.  The loving look in the new brides eyes and the confident manly pose of the groom.

Vera Photoshoot

It was a busy weekend!  In the middle of moving the photo studio to a new location we had lined up a photoshoot with two of the recently crowned Michigan Galaxy queens.  The day was a bit cold and windy but the girls were professional and decided some outdoor shots would be good.  Not only were they good . . they were fantastic!
